Kelty Canopy House (Green, 10 x 10-Feet) Reviews
20 of 20 people found the following review helpful Good for camping, bad for tailgating, October 17, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kelty Canopy House (Green, 10 x 10-Feet) (Sports) Purchased this tent in hopes of having a strong sun canopy for tailgating. However when I set it up I found that it was much too short to have people walk in and out standing up (~5 foot tall opening on the sides). So I will not be using it to tailgate anytime soon.
On the other hand this is perfect for camping. We have been satisfied used Kelty's canopies before and this one does not disappoint. The short side walls are perfect for camping because it will keep rain from blowing in the side, that and it seems like it is strong enough to handle a hurricane force wind. It is fairly lightweight and easy to setup as well.
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful Not for the beach or anywhere with a breeze......, June 19, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kelty Canopy House (Green, 10 x 10-Feet) (Sports) I bought this with intentions of taking to the beach so our 10 month old baby would have plenty of shade and room to move around. There were only a few reviews so it was difficult to make a decision based on reviews alone. The tent was easy to put up, but it is not sturdy even in the lightest of winds. I staked all four corners with extra long tent stakes. The stakes held great but the poles would bend and flex in the wind making it impossible to be underneath the tent without laying flat on the ground. No matter how it was turned or staked, it was not a good choice for the wind. I hope this review will help someone from making the samw mistake I made. I saw plenty of the regular popup canopy shelters that had absolutely no problems. That is what I will get the next time.
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Hurricane strong, places for lights, May 10, 2011 By Brian McGloin (Ubiquitious) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kelty Canopy House (Green, 10 x 10-Feet) (Sports) I bought one of these (for about half off here!) with the intention of using it during Burning Man and elsewhere.
I took a camping trip to the Gulf of Mexico during unusually dry conditions in constant 30 knot wind with higher gusts (some had to hit 45 knots). I had the shade set up before so I knew how it went together (which was easy like a modern cross-pole tent). It was a little tricky to set up in calm weather but not difficult.
Setting it up in the gale force wind took sheer determination and while we got the thing set up, I wasn't smart enough to have the legs square -- at least not until about an hour before I took it down. The sides are too low to walk under, but are fine for sitting at a table or a folding chair. The lower sides, although an inconvenience for walking in and out, provided extra protection from rain and sun.
The shade held fine, even with a little bowing in the stronger gusts. The attachment points for lights and other things... Read more
